I love Chilchuck. Need more Chilchuck. The rest is pretty good too.

I can’t believe I waited so long to read this. It absolutely lives up to all the high praise. What a story! I wasn’t expecting it to be so amusing nor heartwarming. Which makes a change from the darker toned books I usually read. One of the best graphic novels I’ve ever read for sure.

The opening chapter of this book was great, really lured me in… but then I got quickly confused by the amount of different characters. I usually like different POVs in my books but it was tricky to follow here (switching around multiple times within chapters, some times even a few paragraphs at a time). It took me a while to become attached to any of the characters. I liked Kuni from the beginning and I liked when some of the female characters were introduced and took on bigger roles – but there definitely could have been more of that. I read this because I know it’s highly rated in fantasy, I’m not sure I’m fully on board but I’ll probably give the next in the series a go at some point.

My very disruptive audiobook listening (I ran out of Spotify time towards the end) did not do this book justice but, oh my gosh, what a ride and what an ending. Even more so than with book one, I’m so keen for the next one.

I’ll start this review by saying that my only experience of Dragon Age is the Netflix TV show – but I really liked that so I thought I’d give this a go. I liked the cinematic feel of all five books, although generally some artist styles were better than others. In terms of the actual stories I loved the last two but didn’t think too much of the first three. Although I liked the connections that linked all five books. I don’t know if I’m ever going to play a Dragon Age game but I’d read more books.

Most of this book was fine, not great but not terrible either. Nothing really grabbed me with it and I didn’t feel much of a connection to any of the characters. Only for about the last 15% of the book was I a bit more excited to see what was going to happen. Probably not overly fussed to continue the series.

I didn’t know there were any more books in the Coda series until I happened to see this in a comic book shop. I snapped it up right away. Much like the original trilogy, I loved the world, the artworks and the colours. The story was more emotional than I was expecting too. Which is a very good thing.

Really, really loved the start of this book. My enjoyment waned a little during the ‘The Passage’ section of the book but generally I really enjoyed this and will be keen to continue the series.

I said that the first book was unlike anything I’ve ever read and those feelings continue here. I couldn’t stop thinking about this book and these characters. Amazingly unique story.
