I really do not know how to rate this book. If you like rich people drama, this book is for you. The romance is rare and happens quickly, the main plot (moon cake event) seems forgotten about at times in between the rich people drama. The rich dad's involvement is wild and kind of random in my opinion (in spoiler). But descriptions of Xiao Long Bao were amazing haha
I think that the wedding invite and the dad trying to cut out his own son but still control him could have been an interesting sub-plot but it took over so much of the story that it felt like the moon cake contest was the subplot all along... not my favorite

I loved so much of this book I read almost all of it in 1 day. The gaming was cozy and cute, the couple had a wonderful connection. It also discussed deep topics like aging parents, biphobia, discovering your sexuality at any age (this case 50), and demisexuality. Also points out that not all gamers are basement gremlins! Some are normal people that just connect with friends/family/etc through video games! <3
Explicit discussions I loved that are spoilers:
How long can one take care of a parent that does not respect who you are, other peoples problems are not your, and homophobia is not "fixable." You cannot change how homophobic your ex is, you just need to focus on your boundaries.
Explicit discussions I loved that are spoilers:
Graphic: Biphobia, Homophobia, Death of parent, and Outing
