Worst book I've read this year by a long shot. Premise sounded unique but it was severely lacking. Way too much emphasis on motherhood and what it meant to the protagonist. This sadly left very little room for much else. We get it, you breastfeed and your nipples are likely leaking or about to leak at all times. This type of aimless repetition from an author always makes me feel like I'm being treated as an inferior reader, unable to grasp poignant story moments, so they feel the need to smother me with it. I also could not stand the sexual references in this and how post-children marital sex was described. Ick. Mid-way through I was thinking ok so the ending has got to be both brutal and highly speculative to drag this back from the literal pit it's in but no, it was an ending very much open to my interpretation. By that late stage my interpretational skills had already left the room and I had no desire to write the ending myself.
