A challenging collection of 9 stories following 9 Nigerian women challenging traditional values and confines at home and abroad. The stories are familiar but distinct, heartbreaking and challenging. Fetto is skilled at creating complex characters in a short space. Character you want to root for even though you know in your heart they are doomed.

If you love a quietly complex familial drama then this one is for you. Heavy on the character development, the setting - Florida - is a paid actor and a great unreliable narrator. It makes you feel like a voyeur on your neighbors lives

Keke Palmer is one if the great entertainers of our time and it’s exciting to see her growing and developing her brand and business. This book is part memoir, part inspirational self-help, which is odd to get from a 31-year-old but she’s lived a lot of life so I’ll take it. If you love Keke, it’s a fun read but it’s not one I’ll be looking to time and again. However, I need Keke to narrate more audiobooks because her reading voice is perfection.

This book is a far cry from Emezi’s usual style and often feels gratuitous in its depictions of sexual violence.
