I was pleasantly surprised by this! I think Karina does a wonderful job at addressing grief, emotional trauma, and opening yourself up to love. I also, as usual, loved how and when the spicy scenes occurred. Overall this was a really enjoyable read! I do think it could have been shorter, there were parts that dragged a bit for me.

I am definitely interested in trying the series this is a spin off of though! I had no idea it was until I finished haha.

OK THIS FUCKING SLAPPED.

She’s super grumpy and traumatized, he’s the biggest golden retriever, and he hires her to be his bodyguard bc he misses her and he knows she’s the best in the business?? Like that’s such a unique and fun plot. Also it’s a little longer than a novella, so it’s a quick read. And, it’s packed with excellent action and scorching smut. Seriously no notes. I loved this.

“Never be embarrassed by the soft parts of you. I love the prickly bits too, because they protected you when I couldn’t, but the soft, sweet parts of you are so special to me.”

What a lovely second chance romance! I adored book one and was so excited to learn that book two was going to be sapphic! In addition to being heartwarming with scorching spice, there is chronic illness and neurodivergent rep!

Jo & Hunter’s love story spans years and this book features many flashback scenes of when they first fell in love as teenagers and how they find each other again over a decade later. It’s very sweet and full hope. I had so much fun reading it!
