Absolutely beautiful story that spans years and really details the complexities of leaving an abusive marriage while also weaving in what true, enduring, love is like. My heart was wrenching the entire time for Emily, but her love with Gen was so phenomenal it had me in tears as I was finishing the book. Please read it!! It’s easily a top favorite of mine now.

One thing Naomi always does REALLY well is building the tension with our main couple through horny moments and banter. And this book is packed full of both! Hux & Connie had so much sexual tension I was quite literally fanning myself because the heat between them was SCORCHING. On top of this you have Hux who is actively going to therapy and working to improve himself after being sent to prison, and you have Connie who has her own baggage she’s working through. Overall, this was another banger from Naomi!! Honestly I’m not even shocked at how good this was. Naomi’s books deserve way more hype!

Overall, this was an enjoyable read but not one I’ll likely reach for to reread. I think I just wanted/expected way more tension with the plot centering around flirting lessons? Idk. I still had a good time reading this and I really enjoyed all the characters though!

This was such a lovely historical romance! I LOVED all the history references and the plot was very unique and fun, the romance was also really heartwarming and well done. It was a bit slow moving at times, but overall I deeply enjoyed this!

P. S. Don’t skip the authors note!

THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ. Marsha is such a pillar in Queer history, and learning more about her life and all the incredible things she did, touched me deeply. I also appreciated how Tourmaline didn’t shy away from the injustices and hardships Marsha was forced to endure because of how our government treats Trans folks. All in all, this was remarkable and I’m very glad I bought a physical copy of this book because I will treasure it forever.
