I really liked the characters and the world. But it felt like there was little buildup to West and Fable falling into bed. They barely really know each other, unless their interactions when she was selling to him were more in depth. It just seems rushed. BUT I don’t really care, because I love them together, and I’m definitely going to read the second book.

Yeah, no matter how much I wanted to like this, I just hated it. I waited and waited for it to get better, but I can’t get behind characters who are-at their core-just detestable. It was an exhausting read. Not my thing I guess.

Holy wowza! This book had me on the edge of my seat. I took a star because Nina’s story at the middle was annoying. I just wanted to skip her chapters and move on. That’s actually what took so long to finish. But they picked up after a bit, and the ending of her part has me excited about the future of Fjerda! Nikolai and Zoya, their growth, their inner monologue, their stories going forward — I AM HERE FOR IT. I loved their pieces so much. And Issak, oof, that was surprisingly good. And then, boom! His story culminated so beautifully. It took such a crazy turn. Not to mention the ending, with Yuri and all it set up for the next book. WWOWW. I’m diving in to the sequel as soon as possible.

This book started off too slowly for me. I just couldn’t get into it. The plot was fun, I enjoyed the mystery of which boy was which and the finding out. By the end of the boom it picked up, and I liked it! But it was just so hard to get into. I’ll probably pick up boom two, just not right away.

Wow

Holy cow. This was such a good book!!! Enemies to lovers, found family, strong female lead who isn’t a “Mary Sue”, (I mean, she’s always healing from something). Viking vibes, and I just loved it so much. It’s been so long since I tore through a book this quickly. LOVED IT.

Ok, so I usually dislike modern things

And I had every intention of giving this book 3 stars by halfway through. It was cute but just slow. They liked each other and then it didn’t feel like it was going anywhere for a few too many chapters. But after that hump it really took off! It started to really grow in their interest with one other, and started to grow in intrigue for what was going on between their families, and the wrap up was so exciting and just beautiful. I loved the parent/child interactions and the way their culture was so beautifully ingrained throughout the book.

Cheesy and charming

Okay, okay, I loved this.

It’s adorable! A girl named Pepper and a boy named Jack in a truly cute story that brings them from strangers to friends to enemies to rivals to lovers? There are enough tropes here to please any fan, and it is an interesting read from start to finish.

Not to mention, the most perfect ship name, with a sandwich named after it?!
