I decided to read this after a recommendation, and while I found it entertaining to read, and quiet impressive, I also do not plan to read the rest of the series in the books...at least not anytime soon. This is because of the one thing I also admire about the book: it is very dense. Dense with information, it is clearly well researched regarding the two historical timeframes that it covers (in the first book), the culture, customs, historical events, and things like medicinal knowledge is super interesting and quiet accurate (I was curious so I did my own lil research about some of the medical and witchy info in the book). So impressive how Gabaldon creates this world that is relatable and informative, remaining sensitive to culture, custom, and history. It sure helped to have the eye candy in the story as well, but it is well done for a historical romance book to not make it all about the romance; in fact the book's content would still be interesting without the romance. Maybe even...more interesting?
