This was an interesting read, bit of a different approach to the coming-of-age trope. The pacing was a little odd, felt the book was reaching its natural peak but it was only halfway through. The transitions between the characters as narrators was a bit clunky at times but I think it helped build up the collective unit of the characters.  After the first third of the book, the murder investigation takes a back seat to the “group dynamics” setup.

Ultimately, this was a surprisingly good book for one that I picked up on a whim & if you like cults/devil worship/teenage growth stories you may like this.

Got about 2/3 through it and lost interest. Picked it up on a whim after hearing about it being a sort of proto-gothic horror collection. Read through and enjoyed a handful of stories but kinda lost interest towards the end.
