this had so much potential but the protagonist was so blant, i didn’t really care for the romance plot and this easily could have been 200 pages shorter which is never a good sign to begin with. i will keep the book in my possession for aesthetic purposes tho because the hardcover edition has one of the most beautiful spines in history.

what a marvellous mind peter s. beagle must possess to write a story this beautiful. the writing often took my breath away. it was as lyrical and whimsical as you would expect a perfect fairytale to be but it also was much more than that. this one is a tale of identity, loss and love and what it means to be a true hero. there is so much wisdom contained in these pages, i could go on and on about it. i also cried quite a few times reading the last 50 or so pages. i am so glad i got to read this!!!!

this was just okay. do yourself a favour and do not read the back of the book as it spoils almost the whole story?? also i felle like the whole unlikeable character who is a gross little freak with zero compassion or empathy for anyone or anything around her and does basically nothing throughout 80% of the story was much better executed in “my year of rest and relaxation”.
