I found this book’s pacing somewhat slow, it felt like things were happening but all at once so it was hard to know what the main plot was trying to be.

I also wanted to know more about the main character besides her gift. I will say I think the author did a good job at showing how the calculating gift is used like in every day situations which made it more believable.

I also wanted to like Kai, the main love interest, but I feel towards the end it fell somewhat flat to me and a bit too rushed for my taste.

I might… check out the next book because the ending was a pretty good twist but I just did not feel that connected to this book like I wanted to be. I had to switch to an audiobook about halfway through to feel a bit more connected which somewhat helped.

Apparently this is being adapted into a movie, so that’s cool. I would check it out.

Okay, wow, I flew through this book. I enjoyed the writing and characters and how it all made you feel like you were actually in the world. And oh my goodness. Tragic love stories really do tear my heart out. I wanted it to end well for Cath and Jest, I really did. I loved how their first meeting was in a dream like… they truly were destined to meet each other and yet they weren’t able to be together in the end. 😭 I’m going to need to recover from this…

Marissa Meyer has become one of my favorite authors! I’m going to need to read the rest of her books.

Loveable characters: Yes

Alright, I loved this book! It was a spooky good time. It reminded me a lot of Starling House by Alix E. Harrow with a dash of Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson and Hotel Magnifique by Emily J. Taylor. If any of that intrigues you, you’ll definitely want to check this book out. This book stands out on its own and it left me wanting more! It has a great plot, amazing well-written characters, and a blooming romance as well! I did guess the plot twist BUT it was in a way where I was shocked that I was right! I wish we got a little bit more of the romance… maybe a novella or sequel perhaps? Yes, please!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read and review this book!

Wow. I’m going to need some time to recover from this.

Powerful is set during the events of Powerless, but this time we are following Adena, Paedyn’s best friend. We also get the perspective of Mak, a boy she meets when she’s separated from Paedyn.

I really enjoyed this book (even though I did have my heart broken). I felt like most of the problems I had with Powerless were fixed a bit better in this book. The writing was better, the characters felt more real, and the dare I say I liked this relationship more than the first book’s one? Yes, yes I did. That may change when I read the rest of the books, but I just adored Adena’s and Mak’s characters and relationship. Even though it was short, it didn’t feel rushed.

I will be reading the rest of the series and I’m hoping Mak will show up somewhere! My heart broke for him at the end. I also think his powers are very interesting… and wonder if it will come into play.

Overall, this was a tragic love story that made me smile, laugh, and cry. ❤️‍🩹

I thought the concept of this book was pretty interesting. I really liked the characters and the relationships and I especially loved how the author incorporated her faith into the story in a natural and compelling way. I did feel like the story could’ve been fleshed out a bit more especially towards the end though.

Speaking of the ending, it felt off… I won’t spoil but I felt like it could’ve been wrapped up a bit better. Maybe an epilogue?

I did really like the writing, the characters, and the concept. But I felt like this book should’ve been longer, or maybe a duology. I still felt like the concept was really creative and unique. So I would definitely check out the other books this author has written.

Moonsick follows eighteen year old Heidi as she navigates the last year of high school in a world that’s plagued by a virus turning people into werewolves. A robbery goes wrong and Heidi meets up with Cam, and they share a bond that’s held together by the changing world around them.

I really enjoyed this book! I read it in under two days, it was one of those books that was fast-paced and hard to put down. I would say the politics aspect of the story is very similar to The Monsters of Verity duology by V.E. Schwab (but with it’s own take on it!), which I liked. I do wish we got to see Heidi and Cam bond a little bit more throughout the book. I thought the characters were pretty interesting and based on the ending, I think this will be a series? I hope. If it is, I’ll definitely check the rest out!

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC!

This story is about Casey, a girl who finds her best friend’s body at a crime scene. She’s then on the run because of things we find out later in the story contributing to it. We also get a POV of Dylan, someone who is working on the case to find Casey. But even he sees that the details of the case aren’t adding up.

I loved the story, loved the characters, and loved the pacing of it all. I also loved that the author included her faith into the story. I definitely want to continue the rest of the series!
