I received this book as an e-arc- thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing!
This was a fun and interesting way to look at some of Taylor Swiftβs music. As a Swiftie, I already had a lot of ideas and meanings attached to the songs. But as McCausland says, sheβs giving her ideas, and that doesnβt mean itβs the final word. She ends the book by saying the meanings will continue to change with time, which really resonated.
As an English teacher, I loved having the identifications and descriptions of how various literary devices contribute to the specific and overall meanings of/within the songs.
McCausland has written annotations (at times it was a bit overwhelming, but I think in print format it would be different) as well as some boxes with explanations through the songs. After, there is a more detailed written explanation.
This would be a great book to pick up if youβre a Swiftie or an English teacher!

π΅ SWFILT was such a great book to ARC read. I read it in a day β once I started, I didnβt want to stop. Patty did such a great job of weaving in different important elements of Francieβs (FMC) life.
π΅ Of course, we get to see Francie figure out her romantic relationships. This had me feeling all kinds of things as she goes through her story! But we also get to see Francieβs friendships and her education/career journey. We see her figure out her relationship with her mom, which is complex and multi-faceted. I really loved the moments between these two, and it felt so real.
π΅ Patty has her own amazing playlist for SWFILT (that you should check out) but I also had fun matching songs to different scenes and emotions as I was reading!

I received this as an e-arc and I am so happy to give my thoughts on this book!
π€ For anyone who hasnβt read these books, Meg does creepy-am-I-losing-my-mind-but-itβs-hot-horror better than anyone!
β₯οΈ Although itβs a novella, we still really get to know and love Jill, Ben, Julian and Darcie (and especially Ben iykyk). But also I would love to get wine drunk with Julian because I think we would be besties.
π€ As things progress, Jill comes to some realizations and has to make some decisions and by the end I truly didnβt know what I wanted her to do. Itβs such a tense and high stakes situation, and I was IN IT. Once I started I could not stop. I had to know what other wild things Meg had up her sleeve, and I needed to see if my predictions were right! Spoiler Alert: they usually werenβt π

This was so well written, and I loved getting to see the story unfold through Constanceβs perspective. There were so many ups and downs as the βfamilyβ went through their lives, and I definitely grew to hate the never-named Dracula character.
I loved the relationships between Constance, Alexi and Maggie, and the way that they grew together especially towards the end of the book.
I loved Alexiβs narrative as a way to end the book, so we got to know him a bit better.
