So like what actually was the point….. 1.5⭐️

I do think this was a really cool idea, & I kinda liked one perspective, but this just catastrophically failed as a novella…

There are way too many characters with not nearly enough background or substance to differentiate them from each other or really establish them as characters to be attached too/feel anything for? Also this book says it is a mystery/horror with fungal elements and quite literally…… nothing happens……

I’m quite disappointed at what this could have been, & I wholeheartedly think this could have ate the house down as a fleshed out novel so I’m quite disappointed.

I’m ngl I’m kinda disappointed………

Positives:
- girlhood 🫶, sisterhood✊, motherhood🤪
- the fierce love of Librarians and books and magic and women
- I did feel like this was a really good ending in most ways for these generations of girls and it felt like a very full circle wholesome book, I did get emotional a couple times.
- lyrical and melodic and whimsy and cozy writing style

Negatives:
- it just felt very very very long and rambly with (arguably) not very many stakes or plot points to keep me invested
- building off the first negative, it felt painfully slow and boring & much of this book I spent skimming

There are really good aspects of this book, but also really weak aspects of this book & I’m left feeling a little meh. Though I’m glad I read these books because I love the Owens witches with my whole heart, every single one of them

This was a cute and cozy autumnal vibe!

It started off really strong with some stellar You’ve Got Mail x Gilmore Girls x Practical Magic vibes, and then quickly turned into the Wizards of Waverly Place movie which was an unexpected slay?? I do wish the trial lasted longer & I think the pacing dragged in the middle, but the ending brought me back & I though the twist was good!

⭐️⭐️.5

This is a great premise and the vibes were even a little Lost Boys coded but with Werewolves, however the writing felt very first drafty & there were multiple grammatical errors
