1 star simply because the book was so bad that i could not take it serious anymore and was crying from laughter - and leading to my friend getting a potential sixpack from laughing at the questionable scenes i sent her

I want to keep it short because I have spent enough time reading the book. This is an extremely light-hearted book with some emotional scenes for people (if you care about the characters). If you don‘t mind that there is nothing happening and just want to read a lighthearted small-town romance, maybe this is for you.

The book was advertised as all sorts of things, and the only thing that was true to the advertisment was the fact that it was a small-town book. I didn‘t really see the reason why they supposedly hated each other, especially because it was clear that they liked each other pretty quickly. I wouldn‘t have had an issue with that if there was an actual plot at least that would keep the story going, but there wasn‘t. Camden‘s childhood was never explored, Pippa‘s mother wasn‘t really talked about enough either even though those were the most important aspects for both of the characters. Pippa‘s love for the bakery was always talked about, but never properly shown. Instead, I found myself wondering how this book is 400 pages long if the characters already fell for each other so quick.
Additionally, a lot of words and phrases were repeated that could have been easily avoided.
The one star is for the few moments were Kat Singleton did put more effort into exploring the characters and letting us see deeper glimpses of the characters.
My last issue is that this book feels as if she had a list of tropes to include that she just wanted to tick off (e.g. The random use of “good girl” when it was completely unnecessary).

All in all: There were so many unnecessary scenes that could have been cut out and exchanged for scenes that would have explored the characters better. I wish it was edited properly so we didn‘t have the exact same sentences and words over and over again, or even sentences that made no sense. I do think Kat Singleton has the ability to explore characters deeper if she puts her focus on those aspects more, which I hope she will do in the future since it will add way more to the story and its characters.
