Why is it that every time I come away from reading one of his books, I am crying and feel like a truck has hit me? I always feel so much MORE when I finish. More of myself, and like I can look at the world anew and more gently and hopefully.

I did not like the main character. He is mean and annoying. He also is compared to the other love interests daughter CONSTANTLY. Like, sometimes multiple times in one chapter. The fact that he is feeling like a teenager because the love interest is a dad just makes the fact that the book is poised to get them together to be WIERD. SO SO weird. I'm not sure the ages, but it sounds like the main character is around 24 and the love interest is in his early 40s. His daughter is in high school, so he couldn't be much younger than this and I just think that's a large age gap, but I could have gotten past it if it wasn't for the fact that he is always being compared to the love interests daughter.

Ex(ish): He said, Stop, and I did, and I felt like his teen daughter because why is it that parents all learn how to do that? Mine certainly did the same with me.

Like,,,,, that's WEIRD THAT YOU ARE SAYING THAT HE IS ACTING LIKE YOUR DAD WHEN HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE YOUR LOVE INTEREST.

Also, my partner thought this book was boring. Also kinda true. Definitely a slow read with nothing really going on. The main character just felt so one dimensional and like all he had was pithy lines to say. Cutting remarks a personality do not make.

OMG ALSO THE LOVE INTEREST IS HIS BOSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LIKE WTFFF

It was just... not a plot filled story with compelling characters. Nothing wrong with a romance novel, just wasn't what I was craving when I was recced this book bc "fae."

I was speed reading this and I'm not inclined to read the second book. I liked Nox the most, maybe I just wasn't in the right headspace for this though, I feel like I should like it more.

It's much more straight than I normally read but who doesn't love one of the fey? (Apparently most of society in this book's fantasy world.)

I would definitely Read this again. This is also great for high school students or even some middle school students. I feel like it would also be useful to just take certain chapters and use them in a school setting.
