I am reading André Aciman's books for a while but I find this book the weakest. The first chapter was fantastic, very challenging and complex but the rest of the book feels like walking in a circle. The main character slowly becomes annoying and by the end of the book I couldn't find it in myself to care for him. I was hoping for more.

A pretty good short story that entertained me during the flight. I wouldn't say it's the best of Oscar Wilde's works but I loved the slight humour and quite unexpected plot points. Highly recommended if you want to read something but have no motivation.

Lawrence is a genius of description and feelings. He can create the most vivid and exciting stories, and from the day I read my first story back at university, and until now, I have never doubted it. These four stories may not be the strongest of his works, but they are definitely a good example of his writing style. I'm happy that I accidentally bought it. It was very nice to plunge into the Italian summer.

I've read an extended version of the book (about 42 stories). It is a great collection to get acquainted with Akutagawa Ryuunosuke and I enjoyed like a half of them. Some stories made me think and their depth make you want to reread immediately to get to the point. However, other stories are a little boring and way too simple. Overall, I would recommend the book, especially for traveling or if you don't have much time. I bet you'll find at least one story that will blow your mind.

it was insane, beautiful, immaculate, fantastic, heartbreaking and absolutely mind-blowing, I left a piece of my heart in this book. I LIVE for character study stories, we don't need the plot, let's investigate humanity !
