This was super heart-warming and a rather unique but enjoyable experience for me.
Happy Is On Hiatus was so out of my comfort zone but I’m so glad I read it.

The multi-generational bond between the family members was authentic and all round very sweet.
The three cousins, Rita, Sharae and Jemel, were all so close with one another, with a clever head on their shoulders. It was unique to see.

I anticipated a fall out towards the end of the book which I think was perfectly done. Perhaps slightly rushed and the ending concluded pretty soon after, but still.
I was worried in case Nate never actually did get the other woman pregnant, because Rita never heard his side of things, but she knew. Which was the sad part. She’d lived with this for years so she didn’t need confirmation. My heart ached for her.

I just wish we had a perspective of Jemel. We had soo much from Rita, and some from Sharae, but I was sad we didn’t get much from Jemel? She was kind of just there as an extra. She served a purpose, which was to be a badass and I totally loved her.
I did also find some parts pretty boring. The author covered a TON of back story in between dialogue and sometimes it was a bit of a snooze-fest!

I’m sad I didn’t care for this one as much as I did The Worst Best Man, it just fell a little flat for me in some ways, but I still found it enjoyable!

Solange was fun, she was quite confident and head-strong in my opinion which I cared for.
Dean didn’t have much of a personality apart from his astonishingly good looks and body. He wasn’t interested in love. Hell, he was planning on marrying even though he never loved the first woman…

The romance is what ruined this one for me. Both characters just did not have that spark in my eyes. They were having sex not even halfway through and they couldn’t live without each other after one month, so for me this didn’t seem very swoon-worthy or anything. The characters new each other for all of 5 minutes and I’m sorry but they didn’t even KNOW each other but Solange sopped Dean’s wedding…

The reason I genuinely enjoyed this was the smut (it’s was filthy), the families on both sides, the culture and diversity and generally just all of the characters. It was so warming to see such a close-knit family for once.
I was also glad that Lina and Max made an appearance, the two from TWBM.

I just wish the relationship wasn’t so rushed before the characters even had a chance to know the others last name. Had this been a slow-burn I’d have not only rated it higher but also devoured it quicker.
