I really liked a lot of the character dynamics in this one, especially the unlikely friendship between Aphra and Luke and the divorced energy of Aphra and Sanna. However, the main plot really didn't do anything for me. Seeing the different art styles back to back in the same volume also hammers home which art styles I do and don't prefer in Star Wars comics.
Following up from Aphra's appearances in the Darth Vader and Star Wars comics, her first solo comic is a good starting place that reintroduces the character to new readers. I am still a big fan of her dynamic with the droids and Black Krrsantan, and the addition of her father makes for an interesting team for this adventure. I enjoyed the focus on her past, and her role as an archeologist. I also really enjoyed the art style for this issue, especially in comparison to the more realistic but less engaging art of some of the other SW comics. Overall, definitely looking forward to seeing more of this comic run.
We take a detour from the main story to hear about the time that Yoda acted out the plot of Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, but with none of the good parts. I'm also not really a fan of the artwork for the main stories, I find that it tries to hard to be realistic, and ends up looking uncanny.
I did enjoy the Annual #2 that was included. I liked the artwork, and think that the Princess Leia focused stories end up having interesting things to say about the rebellion. I am curious to see if the character Pash ever comes back, or if she is only in this comic.
