it took me too long to finish this, bc of interruptions, BUT WE DID IT JOEEEE! lost illusions, as a whole, is a good reflection of the bourgeois culture and how internally corrupted it is. honoré de balzac, you did it again.

(originally i wasnt planning on rating it, since it took me too long to read it + i was forgetting stuff what happened lol, BUT im giving it the 5 stars either way, bc 1. im biased, 2. it was Actually good)

SALLY ROONEY WTFFFFFFF this is my first book of hers and Good God. the 1st chapter was written so not understandably, that for a moment i thought i was dumb, BUT afterwards it gets understandable (hence the -0.5 stars, from the initial 5). the characters are written so well and they're so complex i truly couldnt figure out my moral stance on them throughout the entire book. overall it was such a surprisingly good book, i'd revisit it again in the future

mans was delulu in times of THE raging capitalistic american dream,,,, idek what else to say

actually jokes aside - the play was smartly written and gut-wrenching at the end (i was literally crying as linda did her final monolgue like WHY IS SHE NOT CRYING, BUT I AM????). the internal conflicts, the interpersonal relationships, the past and the present, the nature and the mass construction, all those themes were well executed and the play, as a whole, left me with a self-defining question, inspired by biff's venturs of whether or not he lives his life in the way that he wants it or his dad wants him to live the life. a play to remember, a play to be referenced in the future
