I've heard plenty of good things about Elif Shafak, but I hope this book is one of her weaker ones because it's a bit boring to be honest. I flew through the first half, though then again I had read about 50 pages or so before dnf-ing it last year. Part Two lost my attention a little, because the perspective shifted to Leila's five friends. I couldn't connect with them or care about them or believe in their friendship, because all we're shown in Part One is moments in Leila's life when she met each of them for the first time. We don't see how her friendship with them deepened or how they came to be friends with one another. They're all "outsiders", I'd have liked to see their journey together rather than being told that they're "the six" and oh so close.
