The start: charming, whimsical, a little off putting. You’re telling me that people with their frontal lobe fully formed think that letting a thirteen yo boy from another plant come into child’s (then young adult) bedroom to take her away is a good idea? Puh-lease.
Sorry, the plot can’t come to the phone rn. Why? Oh, cause it doesn’t exist. Never is a story about Daphne who has been gaslit by her maternal figures (grandma, grad grandma, mom didn’t make the cut) that Pan is her fate, then her (Daphne) being ping-ponged from him (Pan) to Hook (also known as Jem) for 375 pages. I’m not joking.
Peter Pan is imature and cruel and selfish. He treats Daph like a property and loves to punish her with emotional abuse. Like that wasn’t bad enough he is a stupid little fuckboy too. Everything we learn about him and his actions (past and present) is disturbing and disgusting. It’s clear that his brain is a big dust bunny. And yet. And yet this girl (Daph) just takes it because it’s…her… fate? STAND THE FUCK UP
Jem Hook is messy. He says what he doesn’t mean a lot. Most of the misscommunication happens because he’s too chickenshit to be open and honest. I get it though. Daph is all over thr place, doesn’t know or want anything (but she’s also 17??? So it makes a bit of sense??? Perhaps???) and, like Beej before him (MP universe girilies know) Jem sleeps with the entire population of Neverland to get back at her.
When things settled and our girl finally makes up her mind, the misscommunication piano drops. I did’t see it coming. It didn’t make sense. Was it just to sucker punch the reader? It felt like it.
There was a tiny conversation, a sort of bloodletting but it fell short and resolved nothing. And the end? Sure, okay. Waste my time and money. Great.
Will read the next book in the series exactly never.

Easy to read but AT WHAT COST??? Addie’s gaslighting herself that she actually wants to get SAed all the time and that antagonozing her stalker is actually proof that she deserves his punishment. UMMMM Zade is batman vigilante taking down jeffery epstine-esque organizations but then he imprints on Addie and sure she says no a bunch but her BODY says yes. FELLON LEVEL THINKING.
HOW CAN ANYONE SIMP FOR THIS GUY?? Stand the fuck up
