funny lighthearted fast-paced

This was such a fun novella, even outside of Christmas time!

This was a refreshing twist to the fake dating trope and as a fake dating fan I loved it! Him having to act awful was such a fun addition and made for interesting drama. I also appreciated how they took advantage of their time driving over to get to know each other. I liked the MCs' banter and how they were quickly good at reading each other. The tension between them was great and their small age gap was reasonable!

This was an amazing opening to a series, I was absolutely hooked and could barely put it down! As soon as I finished I had to buy the second book, I was so immersed in the world.

The storytelling and complex world were so interesting and even though there were very many names and places to learn, I enjoyed every moment of reading. My only minus was the amount of place names that got mentioned in everyone's plans but didn't necessarily play a bigger part. I found myself skipping some of them, only remembering the biggest ones that were clearly relevant to the story progression.

I loved seeing the secrets and entangled lives of every character unwind. Each revelation had me so entertained and making all these connections in my head. I can't wait to see what all is coming up in this rich world and such lovable characters. The lost and found families were amazing to read about.

Not matching with the writing style

โ€œShe laughs, and I wish I could wrap myself in the sound. Carry it around with me for whenever Iโ€™m feeling hollow and defeated.โ€

This was a fairly fun romance, I just didn't like the MMC very much so it wasn't a great fit for me. I enjoyed the plot and the dates were interesting.

The main characters felt a little bland for me, I liked Lucie but I felt like there was still something missing there. For Aiden, I didn't like much about him. I can usually appreciate a grumpy character but he just didn't do it for me. His possessiveness ended up being a red flag, even though he himself points out being surprised by it. Or maybe it was just the way he deals with it. I was just hoping for more reflection on how toxic the way he reacts to his possessiveness was, the tendency to violence was kind of gross in the end.

I felt the writing was very rom-com-y, which I believe to be intended and fits the theme, but at times it ended up being a bit too 'quirky' just to be comedic.

I got this one from a stuff your e-reader day last year and now read it for a fun short read.

I was expecting more spice, after the beginning there was mainly character introductions and Christmas preparations.

There were many confusing parts for me since I didn't know it's an addition to a full series so I didn't know anything about the characters in advance. It technically works as a standalone but it takes a lot of patience to wait until the characters' backgrounds are explained better. It was kind of expected that the reader knows he's a part of a mafia(?) family.

The student and teacher dynamic would've worked if they had been even just a little older. Now it just seemed like the FMC was trying to justify being with a teenager. The conflict of trying to say they're not really teens and actually adults and still calling them teenagers didn't really sit right with me. She also says the MMC had to grow up too early, yet later says she waited for him to grow from a boy to man when describing his relationship adventures. I also never found out how much older she actually is, it was always just said to be a few years.

funny fast-paced

This was just stuffed full of funny euphemisms from velvet lounge to snatchblaster and throbbing thrill hammer. In a more serious book I would have likely given up but given the intended humour of the whole story, I had a fun time picking out my favourites!

The ending was surprisingly satisfying ๐Ÿ˜‰, and I was even surprised by the fairly solid plot progression toward the end.

Overall this was a fun read with a comical scenario and a rolodex of satisfaction for the MC to choose from. I think I'd like to read more unserious stories after this!

What a sequel! The demon boyband is back with another WILD ride.

First: check the content warnings before reading! I cannot emphasise this enough, make sure you're truly okay to read what's in it.

If the first book was fairly dark, this one amped it up tenfold. The main characters are so messed up yet so lovable, I think I might have fallen for Harper almost as hard as Perseus has.

I hated seeing the things Harper went through and how she was broken, but loved seeing her take back her power. Her broken state was heartbreaking to witness, but it was so important to see how messed up one can be.

I also loved seeing Iyla, Zagan and everyone else from the first book, especially Xander's mischief was SO fun and absolutely deserved. We also got to see Coldin in action, messed up as hell!

I can't wait to read the future books of this series, I'm so excited to get more Dante and hopefully hear more about Xander's past too.

This was such a great sequel and I loved seeing Astrid finally find herself and work through lots of her issues.

The main couple's dynamic was so fun when they got over the initial nastiness. All the plotting and scheming was entertaining! The renovation for a TV-show made things much more interesting.

I loved getting to see more of the friend trio and Delilah too, I think Delilah and Claire are still my favorite couple so far. We'll see if Iris manages to win my heart even more in the next part!

Astrid's arc from a straight woman in denial to a baby bi diving in was cute and her friends finding out was really funny to read. I loved the slow burn again, still not a huge fan of third act break-ups but the grand gesture did highkey make up for that.

I was interested to see how the Parker-Green family issues evolved and there was some nice growth to be seen there too. The whole crew has so many wild things and tons of drama for them to deal with and I eat it up every time!

What We Don't Talk About is raw and sheds a light on microaggressions and straight up racism we face as POC.

Farai meets her boyfriend's parents for the first time and things go sideways. Adam downplays her concerns and lives in denial of his parents' bigotry and how hurtful it is not to be stood up for.

Most -if not all- interracial relationships have to go through similar concerns of what if the partner's parents are racist and if they are, will the partner stand up to them or let it slide. This is also a worry I have gone through.

Kristensen serves us microagressions and the uncomfortability of facing them from people you've just met. This is an amazing comic to understand the strain of an unsupportive partner in an interracial relationship. It's also a great starting point to learning what not to do when your partner faces racism.

I love how Farai unapologetically made the choices she had to for herself.
