The book was well written, but it seems the author is oblivious or wilfully ignorant of women loving women?

Somebody at the bookshop recommended this to me and a lot of people in general seemed to be raving about it, and while the story was very unique, I thought the writing style was quite juvenile (whether this reflects the original or is a result of translation, I don't know). The book lacked a clear plot and although this isn't necessarily a bad thing generally, in this case it only decreased the quality of the writing.

Every minute I spent not reading this book, I spent thinking about when I could next pick it back up.

This was a fascinating read and it's always enjoyable to learn about stories that are typically ignored or intentionally suppressed. Learning about people who connected with their gender in a way that was meaningful and helpful for them is great. It was also a difficult read for me, given my own experience and identity which is influenced heavily by the binary society in which I live.
