I can almost see how this book would look if it were turned into big screen. This book is about devastation over the death of closest ones during the time of political turmoil in South Korea. Slow burner, but worth every second of it.

Oh my god! I started reading this without expecting anything but holy mother mary... should’ve paid more attention to the title! The way Elena Ferrante deliver the emotions, the feeling of being abandoned... everything’s VIVID in my mind. The book gently nudge more unpacked familiar packages that have been sitting hidden in the deepest hole of my mind to the surface and i had no choice but open and process them. I WOULD REALLY love to get my hand on the printed version. Oh god oh god what a pleasant experience!!!

"Siapa bilang bukan urusanku?" bantah Kommer.

I don’t even know where to start. I wanted to believe the title of the book until the last time. The story of Nnu Ego is one of the gut-wrenching one. Makes me really think that women, in any time, any world, can only be daughters, sisters, wives, and/or mothers. They can never be themselves. And that is okay. That is noble. Depends on how you see it.

Finishing this amidst of us presidential election is truly surreal. I firstly cannot imagine how the world could be if prisons were abolished, but now i can imagine the works that need to be done. That maybe, little by little, it’s not so impossible.

The way Buchanan weaves her words is truly exceptional. This was a beautiful journey and certainly a beautiful book.
