Junie B. never misses. And the moral of the story being that being rich isn't all that, and we can appreciate the things that we already have? Fantastic.

mmm so this would have been so good through teenage eyes in the early 2000's but the IM dialogue slowwwly pained me to read as an adult T___T. It being considered a "banned" book though, I think is a tiny bit of a stretch for parents/adults who wouldn't want their teens reading it. I think a lot of the dialogue was immature and stupid but overall just reflects how messy and complicated and frustrating girlhood/young adulthood can be. I didn't find too many of the situations to be super far fetched. Yes I cringed here and there (ESPECIALLY AT THE CONSTANT MENTION OF THE PERVY MALE TEACHER??!!!!??) but I think that this is fine for being something to get a younger group into reading! That being said I will not be reading the others because I am 22 and my brain cannot handle reading 200+ pages of IM as plot. :)

4.5 stars rounded up!
This did that “sad, confused, detached 20 something” trope waaaayyy better for me because there were actual stakes!! I enjoyed the writing and I enjoyed the ride. If i wanted to I could look deeper into the parallels or our two central black characters which was so compelling. Most of all this story felt so real to me? Idk i enjoyed it!!!!
