So I read this book after being away from the series for probably 15 years and to be perfectly honest, I fucking hated it. MAJOR plot spoilers ahead.
I think it was a messy and unnecessary ending to the series. I think the same messages could have been imparted without taking away one of the characters that was at the heart of the series and making all the girls weird and suspicious of each other. I was so deeply annoyed by so much of how this book played out.

Honestly I think this book is a betrayal of the readers, the characters, and the spirit of the series, but maybe I'm a dramatic bitch.
It got 1.5 stars because the emotional impact still got me in the end, but I wouldn't read it again without significant duress.

Adorable, fluffy, cheesy, deeply enjoyable. You're not in it for epic prose, and the dialogue is occasionally clunky, but if you want something feel-good, Jewish, kinky, with really hot sex scenes and a HEA, this is 100% your book.

Trans guy lead which is handled beautifully and creatively with a light sprinkling of dysphoria.

Possibly some of the hottest sex/kink scenes I've ever read. A nice HFN, and a really good wrap up to the series. We get the redemption arcs we deserve, and Arden gets some time to figure his shit out. Loved it.

Honestly as a lover of Alexis Hall books, this is probably my least favorite so far. It's another fantastic example of "this incredibly messy human deserves love anyway and so do you, dear reader" but the specific mess involved stressed me out a little too much to enjoy.
It wraps up with some major growth and a fun HFN ending, but I doubt I'll read it again.

A delightful love story that is full of second and third and twentieth chances. One of those "maybe it shouldn't have all worked out, but I'm glad it did" sorts of stories.

A lot of tenderness, a lot of growth, a lot of learning how to leave home and come back again.

Y'all. Y'all. Friends. Buddies. Pals. Holy shit. Holy shit? This was so good. I inhaled it in 7 hours. I started it at 11pm and finished it at 6:30am.
It starts with some funny scenes that are the most accurate representation of going to a kink party ever, especially when you've been doing it awhile and you're kind of jaded about it. It goes into some of the background motivations of d/s dynamics and feeling kinky in your bones and not being able to find a satisfying relationship and not knowing if you ever will. It is emotionally flaying. It includes some incredibly hot sex scenes. The main relationship is a pretty large age gap (19/37), but it's addressed pretty well by the characters throughout. I am unwell. I will be thinking about certain lines in this book for my whole life. Fuck.

I really enjoyed this book from David R. Slayton, and I'm already planning on a reread to pick up on nuances and such I missed the first time. The characters are great, the worldbuilding is fascinating and it's got one of the more novel takes on the various planes and realms of existence that I've seen in a fantasy novel.
A little bit of romance, cute more than steamy. A main character who I just wanted to hug a million times and tell him none of that ever had to happen to him. Island of misfit toys found family.

Like many of Alex's other works, this one is truly delightful. It's funny, it's cute, it's smug. The characters made me giggle and made me want to shake them. I devoured it in 2 days.
