There were a few weird moments in this one, questionable descriptions of female characters and the aspect of many wives, but I could dismiss most of it as a perhaps questionable and stereotypical cultural addition and our FCs had their own power moments towards the end too.
I really enjoyed this book, the reveals at the end were fun and Abdullah's flowery addresses had me chuckling.

This was a beautifully challenging and emotional book. I felt it handle themes of depression and anxiety in a understanding light and reflected on dealing with trauma from past church, friendships, community and ones own mind, quite well.
There were perhaps a few too many moments in the beginning where our male lead, Brooks, compared our main character, Eloise, to abused horses, but I understand there was equestrian themes and fortunately it didn't show up as much as this story unfolded.
Overall there were tears broken up by some funny (yet understandable with context of characters) choices of wording and writing, which made me giggle in an otherwise emotional but gorgeously woven journey.

While I did enjoy Lief and crews mission and adventure I couldn't help being annoyed by Jasmine in this book which took away a lot of my enjoyment for this installment of the Deltora series.
