The story was really great, and I adored Ivy and the other side characters. However I wasn't very fond of Rachel, I found her annoying (also do you seriously find everyone you meet attractive? Sure you can be open minded, but still).

What really annoyed me was how Nick could know more of "the other world" than anyone else, seeing as he's human. Hopefully there'll be an explanation in the next book.

Anyway, I'm glad that there was at least a bit action in the end, seeing as the first 150 pages was a bit boring.

Across the Universe is this really cool story about the girl Amy who's frozen and sent into space, as a part of a military programme her parent is a part of. However she's waken up before time, and the terrifying truth is that she has to wait 50 years before the ship reach it's destination, the so called "new earth". Therefore she's sent out in the new world on the spaceship, where everything is kinda strange.

Together with Elder - the ships next leader - she tries to solve the mystery of, who it is there's unfreezing everyone, just like Amy was.

I really enjoyed this book - I really, really enjoyed this book. I loved the fact that it changed POV between Amy and Elder, so we could hear what they both thought of the situation they were put in, so it didn't end up like those typical YA books where we have to guess what everyone else, than our (mostly female) confused main character, is thinking.
I also found it really cool that we were following up on Amy's thoughts when she was frozen. However she got really annoying every time she was thinking about her boyfriend from earth. "OMG I WISH THAT I COULD BE WITH HIM U KNO" LISTEN HERE. YOU'RE IN SPACE. I would personally not care about my long dead boyfriend. (however this could be some kind of sympathy for her? I don't know, if it was it didn't work for me). Also, I don't know if she had a really bad relationship with her mother, but she only thinks about her for like.. 2 times? All the other times it's "DADDY DADDY", um. I did expect a bit more from you Amy. You did choose to go to space with both of them after all.

Now, let me tell you the problem I had with Elder. I don't like him. Not really. One second he's ready to make an revolution against everything for Amy, the next he's all like "But Elder wouldn't like that." And he keeps changing like that. I mean, jfc either you go with Amy or you go with Eldest. Also I found him a bit creepy since he just accepted Amy like that, maybe Amy found it creepy too, did you think about that Elder. No, of course not.

What really creeped me out, and the reason why I didn't give it 5 stars, is because of that goddamn season. ew, ew, ew. Seriously though, I closed the book at that point and just re-thought my whole life, because I did not want to read that. Fine that it's a massive factor in the plot, but no. Please no.

I wish I could've connected a little bit more with the characters. I found Colin annoying and Whiny because he kept talking about his ex's. dude, just get over them like any other person would. That's also why I didn't really like the story, I didn't really understand it. Anyway, as always I found John Greens writing really interesting, that's why I gave it 4 stars, because you can't really compete with that I mean come on.
