I think I read this book incorrectly, because I didn't fully grasp everything. Mostly, it seemed to be Christian meeting people who reflect their name exactly, and then the same story with Christiana. I didn't find this very interesting, but maybe I will like it more in the future.

This book had a problem where instead of introducing methods of analysis with geopolitics (or something, I don't know anything about geopolitics) it just showed the history of geopolitics (which is good) and talked about the War on Terror, with what I assume was geopolitical analysis, which means I was left with some knowledge on the War on Terror but not really about geopolitics.

I found this book excellent, and something I would recommend anyone interested in combatting climate change give a read.

The thing I found most interesting about this book was not the falsity of nostalgia, but the juxtaposition in my mind of pre-WWI Britain and the present day. For example, I view fishing as something mostly adults do, but kids do too, and Hilda views fishing as totally childish. There are other examples too, such as Bowling insisting that him being fat is absolutely ridiculous, when he is around 200 pounds, not an especially crazy number today.

I liked Jekyll and Hyde, even though we all know the ending. I also liked the Bottle Imp. The other stories were very forgettable, and Weir of Hermiston was honestly just awfully unreadable. I had to look up too many words in a dictionary and they often just didn't come up. The dialogue was difficult too (I'm not Scottish!).

A very fascinating collection which was very informative and interesting. I enjoyed essentially every single selection. I don't really know anything about sociology, but this was very nice.

I simply do not understand the whole
Petra wanting to have Bean's child
thing. Also,
Achilles' death at the end
was underwhelming and I almost didn't notice it happening.

While just being the Doors of Perception under a new name, I enjoyed reading this.

While I liked it, I found this book to be kind of overrated in its impact.
