MISS KERRI!!!

MADAME KERRI!!

I’ve always said I needed a Thomas Cresswell in my life ever since book one, but this proves it even more. I love seeing Thomas’ point of view and how it’s different than Audrey’s. I want to see more of Cassie and Anishaa in the fourth book if we do because they’re my favorites out of the whole carnival. This was the best 90+ pages I’ve ever read in my life.

I was a little scared to read this book because of all the mixed opinions I saw when it first came out and was worried that I wasn’t going to like it. However, I genuinely liked it as it’s the first fairytale retelling I’ve read. I really loved the twists and Sophia and Constance’s relationship. Although I do see where the pacing was a little too fast with both Sophia and Constance and the events of this book.

I’ve already watched the show and read a little bit of this on Webtoon, but I wanted the physical copy for myself and I’m glad I got experience this again.

Meh…

Some of the chapters were lacking some of the horror aspects usually in Junji Ito’s manga like something being splattered onto one page. They didn’t really show up until the last few stories. Also some of the stories ended abruptly like in Deserter where it just ended with Adera saying that Furukawa can hear Oshimi and that being just it. Like I felt like something was supposed to be added, but they weren’t.

WOMEN WHO KNOW HOW TO DO SHIT AND SLAY (literally and figuratively) IS. MY. JAM!!

In all seriousness though, I really liked this book. Zombie media is my favorite. I love the idea that this takes place in a historical setting while there’s also a paranormal aspect there. I also loved Jane because she honestly reminds me a little of myself. Stubborn and has a lot of mouth. The book kept me entertained and I didn’t feel like I was bored at all. That being said, I would recommend this people who liked Kingdom on Netflix and/or zombie media.
