The book was good up until the ending. It had one big twist, I didn’t see coming. I’m curious as to why he needed 5 more minutes.
I read Spiral first and loveddd it, so I thought I’d check this out. Honestly this book didn’t do anything for me. I listened to this via audiobook and the narration killed it for me. Wouldn’t recommend.
I really wanted to love this as I heard amazing things about this book, but as my first fantasy I found it to be very close to a DNF. Writing was repetitive and lacked a plot up until the ten chapters. Definitely did not need to be over 400 pages imo. Debating whether or not to pick up the second book. It was okay read for me, and if you’re just getting into fantasy I wouldn’t recommend this one to start.
I felt the beginning dragged, but the middle it picked up. Not a fan of the non linear writing, many times had to go back and re read because I couldn’t remember what year we were in. I wish we got more insight post transition too.
I read this for my own & first book club meeting. I’ve seen this everywhere and I wanted to give this a chance, the cover is beautiful but the story behind is even more beautiful. The beginning was a slow start, but as time went on, the unraveling of many emotions appeared. At times, I found this novel to be funny, and I wasn’t sure if I should be laughing but it gives insight with how people work through their own traumas and experiences ( and I for one, am one of those people). It was good, but I’m not sure if I loved all the extra side characters and the 3rd person pov, but it makes sense in the end. Page 342 will always have a special place in my heart, if you know you know. I’ve taken this from this book- whenever you go, you never know who you’ll meet, and it can literally be quite life changing if you let it.
The beginning had me hooked, just like TPM. Unfortunately the middle to end dragged and was predictable. They said there was twists, but due to the predictable nothing shocked me. I would borrow from a friend prior to purchasing as I enjoyed TPM a little more than this one. 3.5 ⭐️ for me
Since this book originally came out I’ve made three attempts to start but DNF’d. Tonight I picked up reading where the audio left off, and it was a PAGE TURNER. The ending I didn’t see coming, but I’ll be processing this for a while. Asking my self “WHAT”, or “HOW”. My first book by Alex Michaelides, and I will check out his other ones. I’d recommend for a thriller, but the last five pages will make you say what the ….so be ready, and warming you may be frustrated at the ending but I’m okay with it because this book finally caught my attention and I’m glad I stuck with it!! To booktok I go!
first magna I’ve read for my local book club! An easy quick read! Would recommend!
a perfect amount of tease & yearning, lots of spice, and a happy ending. my first billionaire trope, and certainly not my last. Ana does it again!
