This volume hits hard with Loid's backstory being the first chapter. Seeing his childhood and the role that the war played on how he views life now is impactful and heartbreaking. The rest of the volume does slowly go back to the lighthearted and familiar dynamic of the forger family.
Yor makes her first friend in this volume and I cannot wait to see how this plays out in the other volumes to come. Anya is still being her cute and troublesome self which always brings a smile to my face. We even got a chapter centred around Sylvia which was new but never the less enjoyable.

The ending to the cruise ship arch was really well done. I was happy to see that by the end the Forger family did get to spend a day together.

There were a few more chapters around supporting characters which were both funny and a little bit concerning with Becky's crush. I thought the chapters around the school was the strongest and the last one has me excited for the next volume to see Damian and Anya again and how they will interact.

This book started out strong and kind of meandered in the middle. It felt like nothing was happening and I was more or less reading the same thing again that just happened a few chapters ago. The ending was more solid but did have me confused at moments.
I did also like Tanith and Oren as characters they felt complex and morally interesting with everything that was happening in the book. I will say compared to the first book I didn't feel as much chemistry between them and they could have used more development together. A lot of the book did have them separated so it was strange to me that they got together at all, but overall I did enjoy the book.

I loved seeing Yor work. This volume was a great combination of action and comedic moments that I find really sums up the Spy x Family world. Yor's work really highlights just how dangerous she can be but it is balanced out with her being such a kind and caring person which this volume shows really well.

It was also funny to watch Anya and Loid try their best to have a holiday but always seem to find themselves among something.

Most of this volume was following supporting characters with Damian, Bond, Yuri and Franklin all getting a chapter centric adventure. I'm glad we are getting to see some chapters with them, it really helps build up their characters and especially around Damian.

I am excited to see more of Yor's work as an assassin and how the cruise ship will play a part in the next volume. It did feel like the last few volumes had pushed the fact that she is an assassin to the side. It is bought up for funny moments when Anya is mind reading, but I am happy to Yor work again.

I liked seeing Loid working with other agents and having a few chapters with Fiona trying to win a tennis tournament lead to some very funny moments. Then again an underground tennis match as a concept is quite absurd.
I did love the development we got with Yor and Loid in this volume too. We don't often get to see just the two of them together and it was a really heartwarming moment.

Seeing Anya just hanging out with Becky and being a kid (as much a being a kid with a super rich friend can be) was just heartwarming and cute. They were adorable, which also made the chapter centered around Damian feel that more lonely when reading it.

I am loving this series and the characters so much.

I loved how this volume show cased Yor and Anya trying to improve their skills in cooking and academically respectively. It was cute and funny to watch them try their bests and seeing their effort pay off.
It was also nice to see some more of Anya's classmates and the school in general. It helps that place feel more alive. Even if Anya causes issues for Loid with her school report about his job.

I remember when I fished this book the first time years ago I was surprised that there was a forth book to the series as I felt like a lot of things were tied up and any loose threads didn't seem to be around the main cast of characters. I felt like this series did a good arch for Feyre and Rhys and put their story mainly to bed with this and the novella.
It was interesting to see how the story progressed to tie up some o the loose threads but also (I assume) leave some for A Court of Silver Flames which makes sense now knowing that book focuses on Nesta and Cassin. I thought a lot of the book played out well and leads you wanting to know more about what is going to happen next.
