Like Leviathan Wakes before this, The Expanse series keeps on delivering high-stakes peril on a cosmic level. There are moments of heart-racing terror, parts that made me laugh out loud and times that made me whoop with joy. Some of the new characters (Avarsarla and Bobbie) are simply brilliant and I love the amount of interplanetary politics at play throughout. This series is definitely worth a read.
I feel terrible giving so few stars to a Discworld book, but I just really struggled to enjoy this one (until the last 80 pages or so). I don't know why, I just felt the jokes went over my head, the characters didn't intrigue me enough and the story didn't really sweep me away like all of Pratchett's other books.
Thankfully the end did start to pick up a bit, but only enough for me to give it 1 extra star. Sorry Sir Pratchett.
