I really wanted to enjoy this book, but I got half way through and just didn't care anymore. It seemed like it was way longer than it should have been.

I read this comic after I had read the second one. In saying that, I had seen the TV show, so I knew the background story of Gwen and how she came to be a zombie, and that didn’t stop me from enjoying the story. This was my second comic or graphic novel I’ve ever read in my life.
I always thought they were just books filled with pictures, which they are, but I didn’t realise how much of a story was behind them. And the art work in this series is amazing!
Gwen, our main character is a zombie and she has to eat human brains once a month to “survive”. Eating the brains comes with an annoying little hindrance through. She gets visions and memories from the person’s life that the brain belonged to. Basically she communicates with the dead guy to try and get messages to his/her family. It’s not as in depth about the crimes as the TV series is, but it’s a neat little quirk that adds to the art work of the comic series.
Gwen and her friends, Scott and Ellie are of the supernatural variety also. A were-terrier, and a ghost, respectively. Together they work to “solve the mystery”.
In this first volume, Gwen eats the brains of a guy who has been murdered. When she solves the crime, she encounter Amon - a mummy - and gets taken on a walk through history about the origins of how Amon became a mummy and how he has fought of monster hunters for hundreds of years.
I enjoyed the story of this one and am looking forward to seeing how Gwen’s storyline will progress.

uVampire continues Gwen’s story and has some genuinely funny parts that involve Scott’s grandfather.
Gwen eats the brains of a woman who has recently been buried, who turns out to be someone the mother of someone from her past. Which then brings up the issue that Gwen is starting to lose memories from her human life.
I love Ellie, she’s so cool. She’s been through a lot in her life and can only visit places she can remember from her human life so she looks at possession as a way to get around.
It’s nice to see the friendship between Gwen, Ellie, and Scott develop and I can’t wait to get my hands on volumes three and four!
