Triggering but good. This wasn’t long or difficult to read and I actually liked it a lot because of how simple and direct it was!

Akwaeke Emezi wrote a beautifully explained story of real monsters in everyday life and delivered a great message: talking and communicating is necessary, but listening is what is relevant and important in order to make the world a better place.

Can’t wait to read Bitter and other works by this author!

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

This book was filled with redundant and superfluous sentences, it was essentially pointless even though there are some redeeming qualities from time to time. There were a few sentences that I actually liked or felt like they were “a mood”, but overall this book just didn’t click.

Way too long. As a matter of fact, it was so long that I eventually decided to spoil the ending and find out what the hell the brother did to end up where he ended up and I was so disappointed, to be honest.
I mean ok I get that it was before the 1980s but was it really necessary to make Bernardo commit murder and kill an innocent person just because that person was transgender and Bernardo was either closeted or transphobic? He could have committed literally any other crime and the author could have found another less hurtful way to make his point and let us know that there was a lot of homophobia back in the day (as if we didn’t know already).

Ok so, I get why some people liked this book, it just isn’t for me.

Review may contain spoilers:

Ashley Herring Blake delivered once again!
This romance novel is very similar to Delilah Green. We have two people falling for each other without meaning to, second-guessing every decision, slowly accepting themselves and each other.

Needless to say, I enjoyed this reading just as much as I did with the first stand-alone book.

Astrid and her relationship with her mother, Jordan’s past following her everywhere she went, I liked it all!

Bonuses:
- spicy scenes were just as good.
- there’s a non binary character going by they/them pronouns.
- a bunch of scenes with Delilah and the others
