I can't believe I'm saying this but I had to DNF this. Made it 40% in but just couldn't get into it.
Is it just over hyped? Or is it me? Lol

Little charmer. Reminds you how simple the times were back then...easily one of my favorites.
Audiobook narration -5 stars
Book - 3 stars
Audiobook provided by NetGalley.
This book contains 3 short terrifying tales of the residents of eight block tower.
I really wanted to like this one because the premise was quite promising. But unfortunately I was only able to see myself engaged in one story which was the second one, "The invalids". One of the characters named "Samantha" was probably my favorite one, she made me chuckle quite a few times. She represented a brave main character as a female which we often don't see in this genre. The writing and the audiobook narration was so on point and truly gripping, but the storyline seemed to lack that "creep" factor I was looking forward to...
Would recommend to anyone looking forward to reading a quick short read in the horror genre.

I was underwhelmed by "Mistress Next Door" by Lesley Sanderson and would give it a 2-star rating. While the book held my attention, I couldn't shake the feeling that I had read similar stories before. The plot felt predictable and lacked originality, with many of the twists and turns feeling like they had been done in other books in the genre. The characters, while well-defined, failed to bring anything new to the table, and I found myself not feeling emotionally invested in their journeys.
Unfortunately, this book didn't live up to my expectations and left me feeling like I had wasted my time. While it may still be enjoyable for those who are new to the genre or haven't read many similar stories, for someone who has a more extensive background in thrillers, "Mistress Next Door" falls short.

"Seven Days in June" by Tia Williams is a novel that promises an intense and passionate love story. While it delivers on some aspects, it falls short in others, leading me to give it a rating of 3 out of 5 stars.
One of the strengths of the book lies in its exploration of complex emotions. Williams skillfully captures the raw intensity and chemistry between the main characters, Eva and Shane. Their rekindled connection after years of separation is palpable, and the book delves into their emotional journeys with authenticity. The exploration of trauma and its impact on their lives is also a commendable aspect, as it adds depth and layers to their characters.
However, the book suffers from pacing issues. The initial chapters are engaging and draw readers into the story, but as the narrative progresses, it becomes repetitive and stagnant at times. The constant back-and-forth between Eva and Shane's perspectives can feel tiresome and slows down the plot's momentum. Additionally, certain plot twists and turns feel contrived and lack the necessary depth to make a lasting impact.
Furthermore, the secondary characters and subplots, while initially intriguing, often remain underdeveloped and fail to reach their full potential. The book hints at exploring important themes such as race and representation but doesn't fully dive into them, leaving the reader longing for a more profound exploration.
Despite its flaws, "Seven Days in June" showcases Tia Williams' talent for capturing intense love stories and evoking deep emotions. The passionate moments between Eva and Shane are undeniably captivating and carry the novel through its weaker points.
In conclusion, "Seven Days in June" is a book that tugs at the heartstrings and delves into complex emotions. While it has its strengths, including the authentic portrayal of the main characters' connection, it falls short in terms of pacing, development of secondary characters, and fully exploring important themes. For those seeking a passionate love story with its share of ups and downs, this book may still be worth a read, but it does leave room for improvement.
