In conclusion, a man's memory is a land of contrasts.
From a setup rich with dramatic possibility the novel meanders through almost a non-plot arriving at a denouement that practically lampshades the book's frustrating quality.
But there are, however brief, a couple of interesting reflections along the way, which, I suppose, is all that readers of so-called literary fiction demand from a book.
