Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut

This book is so nostalgic. Reading Vonnegut makes me come unstuck time. The mixture of humour and absurdity and sincerity is really just so expertly crafted. However, it has to be mentioned that the way Vonnnegut writes women is really just so disappointing. So it goes.

I hated this. Nothing redeemable. It wasn’t even bad in a haha entertaining way.

Tasha Suri is a master of world building and creating rich, full characters. It starts off very slow but it is well worth the build up. It’s one of those stories where after it ends you want to live in it for just a little bit longer.

This is a “it’s not you it’s me” situation. I will come back to it eventually because I love Margaret. My library loan just expired.

Too much of a slow start. Quit about 1/4 the way in

A very fun premise with a lot of promise. However, the plot was predictable, character motivations thin, and the conclusion drawn out. It was a quick read, but not necessarily a good one.

The production of this audiobook is really good.  The voice actors were really talented and did the best they could with the material they were given. However, the story was nonsensical and had no real stakes. The Brody POV chapters were truly criminal and VERY hard to listen to. Nevertheless, it’s only 4 hours long so it was a cringey but easy listen.

Sometimes funny. Sometimes atmospheric. Mostly meandering. This could have been an interesting short story, but it dragged endlessly.

This was very cute and fun! I instantly loved the characters and was fully engaged in their world. I did guess the murderer right away, but I’m also an adult….so take that as you will.

The world building is very interesting and the illustrations continue to be amazing.
