I think this book has some great potential but there were a few things about it that I found a little underwhelming. Some of the writing was a little repetitive and there were a few phrases I found a little odd, though I can see the intention was for creative imagery.

I am interested enough to continue on with the series and see where it takes me though. I’m hoping some of the confusion I feel will be cleared up in the following books in the series. Not a bad start, all things considered. I’m tentatively holding out hope this continues in an upward trajectory.
medium-paced
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Complicated
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

This was a fun book and I did enjoy it, but I also found myself struggling with some of the repetitive writing. There were a few phrases and words that were used a lot, which distracted me a little and pulled me out of the story.

I did like the two main characters and the love interest was fun, but it also felt like it went from 0-100 with not a lot of depth until later. Despite that, I’m a sucker for the tropes in this book and that kept me engaged. It was a fun, slightly steamy read that I found to be a good in-between book for me.

This was a wild ride! I got this as an audio ARC from NetGalley and it was a quick read with fantastic narration. It pulled me in and did a great job with the cosmic horror/ sci-fi horror. I was hooked from the beginning and felt a range of emotions while listening to this. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because there were a few details throughout that didn’t quite connect for me, but those little moments were not substantial enough to bring me out of the feeling of the story, I just had a few lingering questions. However, those may be answered if there’s more to come in this series, and if so, I will absolutely be picking them up. If you’re into this vein of horror, you will enjoy this.

This book was eye opening and sad. I felt like it was her honest truth as she experienced it and it also felt like she made an effort to own her mistakes and be authentic. Obviously this is one side to the story but I feel like she did her best to be as genuine as possible when recounting some hard realities.
