What You Are Getting Wrong about Appalachia by Elizabeth Catte

The author covers a lot of topics which is nice in theory. But I would've preferred if they focused on a few key elements and really explained them in more detail. Great information is presented but the lack of depth and explanation causes a lot of it to be lost if you have no knowledge about the topic before diving into the book.

after reading some explanations for this book im bumping my review up a bit. still staying in the 3-point range just because i was too confused to grasp what was going on.
but now understanding that samantha was schizophrenic and essentially everyone was a creation from an animal that she believes is a real human makes the book way more interesting. mona awad does a great job of conveying samantha's mental state. as the reader its hard to decipher if samantha is crazy, is everyone else crazy, or am i confused with whats happening.
i think if i was to read this again now understanding what was happening it may get a higher review. but for now 3.5⭐️
