Once Upon a Marigold by Jean Ferris

I first read this book in the third grade, hiding under my desk during recess so I could hurriedly finish it before other kids came to bother me. It’s stuck with me, ten years later, and remains my favorite book of all time.
My five stars is, of course, a bias, but a genuine one.
