i can't get a coherent thought together quick enough before i start crying again. it's like there's this heavy snow on it all; a silenced weight. and the story is slowly, heavily creeping along as we shift from the realization that this story isn't really who you thought it was about in the first place. OH THE GIRLHOOD OF IT ALL. easily one of the best books i've read.
honestly? fun as hell. if you go into this expecting a royal dignitary navigating a political scape... you picked the wrong book. but if you go into this expecting a girl raised outside of the royal political scape navigating a coterie/harem all with distinct social and sexual needs... frequently? this is a good enough pick.

this is a kink heavy novel with a variety of species related kinks and societal based kinks considering the job of the FMC. they are as follows: consensual non-consent, somnophilia, dormaphilia, sexual voyeurism, nonconsensual sexual voyeurism, aquaphilia, sexual dehumanization, hatefucking, blood play, predator/prey, compulsory heterosexuality, mention of lactation kink.
painfully short but 2 nice spicy scenes. mild heat. not at all comparable to the heinous shit i’ve read in fanfics but still a fun little treat. i liked the random murder plot.
kieran was deeply problematic and wildly unlikable. blake victimized himself after committing the ultimate betrayal to his, granted headstrong and inconsiderate, boyfriend. and then you just wrapped it up in a little bow like it’s fine? kieran really was the bad guy the whole time except you’re just gonna exonerate blake for being homophobic to kieran? letting kieran get bullied incessantly? STALKING kieran???? eeeeugh
80 percent fbi work, 10 percent depression and survivor’s guilt, 10 percent romance. what a shit recipe for a cocktail. also why did everyone have so many names??? “jamie jameson whiskey walker” and ai aiden irish talley” like christ man.
