I truly loved this book.
I felt like I was in the world of Polar Express and Candyland all at the same time. If you grew up watching Polar Express every single Christmas, you'll love this book.
The world and environment was so well written I think I could smell the peppermint and oranges on each page.
The characters were charming (or charmingly evil) and their voices were clear.
For those who have religious backgrounds, there is definitely a deeper meaning and plenty of biblical references throughout this book, but it will not detract from the story if you are not familiar with them.
I'll just say again, this book is like if Polar Express was in Narnia, I loved it! Will definitely be continuing the series!

Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake

Did not finish book. Stopped at 30%.
Too much world building at the beginning, with switching povs, and side characters all introduced at once, I was so confused...
The dialogue was...lacking life to be honest, and the three sisters were also lacking any interesting quirks that made them different from each other. Sometimes I wouldn't realize a pov had switched because they all seemed the same, minus their powers.
Thought maybe it was just me, but after reading all the other reviews I decided not to spend precious time on something I wasn't enjoying when the biggest plot point doesn't even happen until later in the series.
