such a flop… very disappointing in every way possible. the characters felt boring and flat, the magic didn't feel well established and felt very inconsistent, the pacing kept fluctuating between being such a drag to being so fast i couldn't tell what was happening, the writing was very tell not show, the romance was fucked (why is it a several hundred year old immortal man and a young woman like come onnn leigh you have done this before let it go!!!), and overall everything felt like it wasn't given enough depth. very very sad that this came from the same author who wrote the incredible characters from soc and even hell bent...

it was so hard to care about anything that was going on but then the last 100 pages of the book changed something deep within me. like literally. i just wish it didn’t take so long to get so good
