good bones is one of my favourite ever poems so i tried really really hard to enjoy this but it just is not for me. i'm not a fan of the writing style at all. everything felt simultaneously very flat and yet like it was trying to do a lot of things that just didn't land.
it was sort of hard to believe that she actually felt anything she said she was feeling — not that i’m denying she felt it, just that it didn’t come across in the writing. she says she loved him, but didn’t tell me anything that showed she loved him. she said she felt possessed by anger, but didn’t really tell me anything that showed how angry she was. it felt very tell not show. idk! the writing just felt quite lacking

Everything was beautiful. Not that there was anyone to share it with, anyone to tell. Just the beauty.

i lost it when she praised a movie about people shitting on each other and called it a critique of fascism?!?!?
there were some really nice insights into art and god in the first half and then i don’t know what the fuck happened
