- overall thoughts
this book was probably the most beautifully written book i've ever read. The thought that went into this book is fucking insane. you can tell that the author really cared about the details, and the languages. you can tell that her goal was to bring light to racism, in the most unique way possible. As an arab and a muslim, the representation in this book was fucking beautiful. I would be unstoppable if i had a brain such as rebbeca's brain. this book was simply amazing and the ending destroyed me. WHAT WAS IN GRIFFIN'S LETTER, I NEED TO KNOW. NOW. Although, i expected more from this book, being that r.f kuang is a loved author, i can say that i've had an amazing experience reading this book. an experience i'll never forget.

”We have to die to get their pity, We have to die for them to find us noble. Our deaths are thus great acts of rebellion, a wretched lament that highlights their inhumanity. Our deaths become their battle”

- characters
robin: protect this man at all cost. Definitely up there with one of my favorite characters. Loved his character development through out the book, the way he gained confidence, the way he started becoming more social, and speaking up for himself.

ramy: one of my favorite characters as well. I loved how the author represented muslim culture with him. and i love how he always stood up for himself and put letty's racist ass in her place. I loved his pride in his country and his confidence that he and his country will able to do great things. his friendship with robin was so beautiful.

victorie: academic weapon. i'll be using her as study motivation. I absolutely loved her character, and how compassionate she was. Even when letty was being her usual self, victorie still was sympathetic and compassionate towards her.

letty: : racist bitch.

”Inside, the heady wood-dust smell of freshly printed books was overwhelming. If tobacco smelled like this, Robin thought, he'd huff it every day.”
