Want Me: A Sex Writer's Journey into the Heart of Desire by Tracy Clark-Flory

This book is listed as a memoir, but it doesn’t feel right to call it that. The author tends to tell a story, then analyze the experience with feminist theory. The placement of quotes is jarring.
Although I was /am resistant to the addition of academic content dropped into a memoir, the quotes are so good. I found myself highlighting and sharing the best ones for friends.
The irony is that my favorite part of the book was the last 100 pages—when she had married a man and lived a much less adventurous sexual lifestyle! Her love for her husband oozes off the page.
I guess what I’m saying here is the editor did a poor job…

Cute, light-hearted, easy to read. Love that the author used regency era dialect in not only the dialogue but in the prose. Love the setting. Overall immersive experience.

What a bizarre experience!!! Just when Tess can’t get it any worse, she does. A story about the injustice women experience. But just too long. It felt like 3 different stories in one. What a rollercoaster. I wouldn’t recommend it, but I also don’t regret reading it.

Critiques:
-If I had a time for every time the love interest calls Nina small! Small small small. So weird.
-the author kind of makes fun of people in LA with Stereotypical LA dialogue. I found it annoying
-Nina is pretty unlikeable. She is resistant to change and pretty rude!

Did not finish book. Stopped at 70%.
I found that the lines got blurry with consent and it made me uncomfortable.
