The audi is read by one of my favorite narrators, Bahni Turpin🤍🤍🤍
I did not read the synopsis upon starting and was surprised to learn that the Mc's name is bitter😂😭 poor thing....
I enjoyed this unique piece and that Bitter has the magical artistic ability to bring her drawings to life, which is AWESOME!!!
Bitter is a relatable character and genuinely needed to get their frustration out. But there is always a plot twist and sometimes your creation has a mind of its own🔮

To see whom will claim the high magic, the 12 families choose a champion to fight in the tournament. Where there is only 1 winner, everyone else dies.
I love me a good villain and throughout this novel, I have been team Alistair🤍🤍🤍 I cannot explain it, I just adore his character
It has dark magic, mostly spells and characters whom will literally die to bring their family name honor. I'm tracking down its sequel and highly look forward to it👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I was really excited to delve into this book switch from my reading preferences.
Our MC Kagen just could not catch a break, with his world and everyone he loves crumbling before him.
The book started off well but imo went down from there, so I quickly skimmed the rest.

This novel in a span of 3 hours had so much heartache, passion, first love, tragedy, emotion and everything in-between. But that plot twist at the end completely shook my world and felt bittersweet. Moth is such a loving character whom I wanted to encase in a protective bubble. I adore both her and Sani's relationship.

Our MC Deka is such an amazing character and herself is a suspenseful mystery. As in, she does bleed gold, is tragically killed by her own father, and can continue to ressurect herself.
Soon, she is united with more Gilded girls and together discover their individual strengths, train, and become more aquatinted with their "rebirthed" selves.
I was EXTREMELY happy when Ixia (a magical shape-shifting creature) was introduced and LOVE HIM SO MUCH😭 Deka and his initial encounter is magically spiritual, as soon as she lays eyes on him something in her being tells her he belongs to her. He does end up biting down on her arm and locking down, I would have freaked out, I figure to be a blood bonding. After that he's fiercely protective of her and the sweetest protective pet.
Then the whole premise behind the wicked creatures the Gilded are trained to help eliminate, Death Shrieks. There were so many mixed emotions and confusion combined with Deka unexpectedly understanding their foreign language. I could just weep.
The Gilded Ones has so much deep meaning and realistically resonates with the spiritual warfare Black Women and dealing with. I cherish Namina Fora for writing such a powerful start to this duology. I cannot wait to read the next title of this series.

- "When all of them catch a vicious cold, I'll let their fathers know that you're to blame"
- "after the captain had punched Roland so hard in the face that the youth blacked out"
- "Books and books and books"
- "perhaps it was merely some courtier trying to hide a passionate love of books from his or her sneering friends"
- "Oh, don't be so pathetic," the skull huffed, its eyes narrowing. "I'm attached to this door. I cannot harm you."
- "I simply exist."
- "You should apologize," it said. "You have no idea how loud and tiresome you've been these past few months, with all your running down here and slaying foul beasties. I kept quiet until I thought you'd witnessed enough strange things that you could accept my existence. But apparently, I am to be disappointed."
- "How long have you been yarning for him? was what he really wanted to ask. Damn him for caring. Damn him for every moment he'd spent worth her."
- "never should have let him see her as vulnerable, because now he'd worry about her and doubt her and irritate her to no end."
- "saggy cheeks, thinning straw-blond hair, and a dull complexion" -to describe someone X-D
- "Ancient spells and nonsense," Celaena said, cutting off Mort as he began to recite the story the story of how King Brannon created him."
- "I think I'm more jealous of that giant buffet no one is even touching."
- "Dance with me," he said, and held out his hand to her."
- "Celaena looked at Chaol and realized she was home."
- "So Chaol brushed away her tears, lifted her chin, and kissed her."
- "Nehemia was dead </3"
- "Celaena said, "She's never coming back." The dog kept waiting."
- "Celaena was fae."
- "The dog {Fleetwood} limped to him, tail wagging, and Dorian set the books on the desk."
- "Celaena was the lost Queen of Terrasen. Chaol sank to his knees."
I just, experienced so many emotions throughout Crown of Midnight. Reading this reminded me I LOVE female main characters who are badasses, can kick ass, can still have vulnerable moments and find love. Like Nevernight (I have to finish that series) and crave to read more books like this. I am head over heels invested in this series and excited to continue this series, before I continue on, I will switch to the massive novella.

This book is absolutely phenomenal!!!!! Hands down, wow. It was emotional, captivating and...I both wanted it to never end (I adore Noor and Sal) yet wanted it to end on a positive note.
I was so wrapped up in this world and love that it was set in a desert climate (I miss Arizona😢)
I truly enjoyed reading from Noor, Sal and his mom (Misbah) POV's. And oh😭😭😭
It pulled every last one of my heart strings, this was the only book I physically drew hearts in as well🥰

His character has rubbed me the wrong way and I'm glad we haven't heard from him. Though, I am glad that James is safe since he's the only family he really has. If James wasn't a part of his life, I wouldn't as much as glance in his direction.
I had to retract a bit since I'm further in the main books than the novellas and honestly forgot about Adam😅
