"My mother is wrong. There is a way to have both love and duty....the shadows don't have to be a place of darkness, I've learned. They can be a place of peace, a place of escape, we can still feel the warmth of the sun. Cale and I can still love each other. Queen and assassin, in secret, in the shadows, always."

This story has left me feeling so bitter sweet. At the end of the day, Caledon is still one of the many queen's secrets. They have a pretty sweet arrangement set up, being with their true loves in secret. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth that Lilac (Shadow) and Cal will have to continue to keep their love a secret. To not freely be with the one you love is just so disheartening.

I was curious to see how different the netflix series progresses versus its manga. That I completely forgot some of what happened and why  I stopped watching in in the beginning lol.Tbh, this is just not my cup of tea of a series but I enjoyed the illustrations. By the 30% mark, I gave up on reading the text and mainly focused on the visuals.

This took me a bit longer to get through. I felt like I was missing out on Easter eggs and Celaena's past due to me not reading the prequel to the Throne of Glass series, The Assassin's Blade. So I stopped around 50% and listened to that audio.

Heir of fire is a rocky transition through the series, with so many new characters being thrown at you. Along with grasping people in Aelin's life merging with those in Celaena's life. 🥵

it's REALLY overwhelming😭😓 Especially Rowan's transformation...I still have no idea when that went down and literally questioned if he was a new character😅😭🤦🏽‍♀️

Then on top of that,  there are sprinkles from Manon's perspective. Celaena killing one of the iron teeth witches elder's stirred their cauldron. I think she alone should have been a novella within the series..unless there is one...I'm tired just thinking about it.

I do love her creature/dragon companion Axbraxtos and them learning to trust each other.

It literally felt like I was thrown from the ToG world and projected to the iron teeth witches world.

All I can recall at the end is Celaena/Aelin reconnecting with her true self and declaring war as terresan's lost queen....it's A LOT.

I'll probably take a break from this series to gather my bearings.

Ok, I loved LOVED the ending!!!!!

I am utterly grateful this book started moving in a solid direction. I thought it would be a lot more exciting and action packed. But it reminded me of Part 1 of HP and the deathly hallows where all they did was hide in the woods😑😑😑 (see what I did there)

I adore Mer (water wielder), Fane (loveable man/Trefor's owner/iron and finder of metals) , Ifanna (princess of thieves) and Trefor (the sweet corgi whom sniffs out magic).

I would have rated this higher but that middle part damn near took a sista out😭😭😭

The magic was pretty cool, but the magical killer water mare's were badass.

So much sorrow, bloodloss, greed, and heartache🥺🥺🥺 luckily this story ended on a positive note or I would have SERIOUSLY been done with this author🤣😭👏🏼

I appreciate the nod to her previous work The Bone Houses at the end🥰

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin

Did not finish book. Stopped at 20%.
Sam's character was beginning to grow on me...until his idealization of whatever-her-name-is. The mention of this game that makes them famous is culturally-inappropiate. So it's just some white chick (who befriended this guy and used him as a charity case) and a white identifying Asian guy whom are inspired by Japanese culture but won't give them credit. I am sooo happy I canceled my preorder from waterstones. This would have been a waste😒😒😒

Marx is the only characteri like but not enough to continue this book.

I enjoyed this intro of our MC Savannah first time moving away from home for her first year of college.

She could not even deal with the emotions of being away from home because all this racist shit and people are thrown in her face. But the racist folk continue to get away with their foolishness and instead those who stand up to them are the only ones reeping repercussions.

It truly angered me and I
wish SOMETHING would just happen to them.

At the end of her first year, Savanah applies to Booker T. Washington's University, is accepted and left for her own protection of mind and space.

I'd leave too, knowing those racists' will eventually receive their karma, but just to have a piece of mind. People seriously act like anyone asked to be put with so many people with hate.🙄

Trust me when I say, if people could segregate themselves from hateful folk....they could seriously group up and leave and NO ONE would come looking for them👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

OMG OMG OMG!!!!! This was such an adventurous and kickass view of Celaena before the Throne of Glass series.

I honestly thought this was going to be a smol Novella...like the average novella. This was a freaking tome🤣🤣🤣😭 over 12 hours long. I immediately switched over from the ebook and requested my library to buy the audio (thankfully they approved👏🏼🙏🏼). Without further ado, my ratings for novellas:

  • the assassin and the pirate lord 5/10⭐
  • The assassin and the healer 8.5/10⭐
  • The assassin and the desert 10/10⭐
  • The assassin and the underworld/underword (I've seen it spelled both ways but either way my rating does not change)...bump up in star b/c her and Sam kissed😘 4/10⭐
  • the assassin and the empire 10/10⭐.... Sam🥺🥺🥺

This is a cute book to introduce bees to kids with great illustrations.

It's very informative and does a nice job of describing what each bee does and the different kinds.

I love the bonus activities and quizzes that are included at the end.

There was so much packed into the ending of this duology. It was a great audio to listen as I cleaned, pulled orders to just tp keep my mind busy. I really wish I had a diagram of who each character is because they're are so many that it's quite overwhelming. I am happy to have finished this series ^_^
