Practically perfect. Brilliant writing, wonderful art, the right balance of tones between gothic, noir and fantasy. I can't wait to read Vol. 2.
After the Quake by Haruki Murakami

Almost like a espresso-shot of Murakami; six short stories all loosely involving the psychology of Japan after the Kobe earthquake. None of the characters were directly involved but in true Murakami fashion they all feel connected to the event in some way. All six stories are wonderful, the stand-outs being Landscape with Flatiron and Honey Pie. The first is deeply unsettling whilst the last is surprisingly uplifting, or as close to uplifting as he can reasonably be.
